Why is it so important?
Not all water is the same. In different parts of the country, we have different quality of waters, different water supply systems, etc. This all affects the water quality. SO if you would have an ice machine water filter and have large particles of dirt and rust heading towards the future ice cubes and your drinks, you ice maker machine water filter would soon be filled with those large particles, combined with smaller pieces of dirt, so pretty soon it will become ineffective, and you will have to replace the cartridge.
